Workshops

ALOHA! Victoria Vox and Ukulenny are two amazing ukulele performers and teachers. Both hailing from California, they will charm you with their unique styles of musicianship.

Workshops are not rated with levels because they are intended for all players to enjoy and glean what you can from them individually. Handouts will be shared with attendees via email and/or via download on the webpage. Please print any handouts that you want to use or bring your own iPads/tablets/computers to view them.

VICTORIA VOX

Songwriting with Victoria Vox: All Levels
In this workshop, Victoria Vox (BM, Songwriting, Berklee ’00) will lead an interactive songwriting experience! Together we'll create a chord progression, melody, and lyrics to write a song. You'll learn how to get started, be inspired, as well as learn how to rewrite/edit, get out of a rut. We'll play with rhythm, rhyming, and harmony in real time. 100% musical, 100% fun.

Island Strum Variations: All Levels
Most may know it as, “DDUUDU” or the “Island Strum”, and with using simple substitutions, you will be able to expand your strum knowledge to play Jazz Swing, Pop/Rock, Backbeat Calypso, Country, and more!

UKULENNY

Book Your Island Getaway With These Hawaiian Chord Progressions and Vamps
If you play ukulele, you've got to play some Hawaiian music! This workshop will feature some of the most iconic chord progressions in Hawaiian mele.  We will be transported to the islands the moment we play D7-G7-C and G7-C7-F! Songs covered include Henehene Kou Aka, Island Style, Hanalei Moon, and more.

Even Ukuleles Get The Blues
Just pulling your ukulele out of its case brings the promise of joy and playfulness. But nothing's wrong with having the blues now and then, too. Whether you are just starting on your ukulele journey or just want to explore new musical genres, playing the blues can evoke deep emotions, fuel songwriting, and create musical connections with others.  We'll cover the blues shuffle and the blues scale so you can get up and join the jam session in no time!
